22 sleeps, truffles & baubles

3 Dec

I’m sorry readers, I failed to provide on yesterday’s post. This was only meant to be the second post of the advent, so I realise how poor that is! #fail

Let’s say that the post for 23 sleeps was all about Christmas drinks with a friend. Basically, I suggest you pick somewhere lovely to eat, a a good few drinks & giggle the night away! Try not to have a sore head in the morning….I’m possibly failing that bit too!

Anyway, for those of you giving MrsElizabethB’s advent calendar a go, or those who just fancy trying them, here is her truffle recipe:

200g plain chocolate
75g butter
1tsp vanilla essence (or brandy, or rum or 1tbsp strong coffee)
225g icing sugar
2 tbsp double cream

Melt the chocolate with the butter with the bowl over the pan method. Take off the heat and stir in the sugar and cream and flavouring. Refridgerate for a couple of hours until it’s firm (it will get a layer of fat on from the butter but that’s fine). Once firm, roll in to little balls (you should get 30 from this recipe) and then coat them in cocoa powder, icing sugar, chopped nuts etc. according to taste.

Delish! You can’t eat more than 4 in one go though, they are just too rich!

*Lastly, has anyone found a Christmas decoration as ‘policey’ as this fab bauble??
(I can post the image as I’m using my phone, will do so in a short while)
